Cookbook

The cookbook is moving right along, we had a large group of ladies who proof read recipes. We have learned from this experience that in the event we produce a cookbook again that we will need clearly written recipes submitted for typing. We will also need to clarify some points for the typing process. A great BIG thanks to Esther Buchanan for retyping several recipes.

The cookbook will contain 355 recipes. The cookbook will sell for $10.00 and we will purchase 400 cookbooks. The recipes were sent to Morris Cookbooks on 9/11/09 and we anticipate a finished product delivered sometime the middle of November. In order to keep our time line we will only have 5 days to proof read the proofs which Morris will send to us in approximately 4 weeks. There will be an E-mail sent at that time asking for volunteers. This will be a short notice event and any help would be appreciated.

Once the proof is returned to Morris we will begin taking pre-sale orders. The total balance of the cookbooks will be due to Morris 37 days after receipt.

Cookie/Candy Walk

The cookie/candy walk will be held on December 12th from 8:00am – Noon or when we run out of cookies. Our goal is to have 833 dozen cookies for this event. Candy should be pre-weighed and bagged in ½ lb sizes. The team will pre-price candy. We currently have 2 scales which have been offered for use for this event (thanks Lois Losee and Valerie Rodgers) we are looking for 1 more scale. If you have one we can borrow, please let Doris Walters know. We are asking that if your cookies or candy contain nuts or a nut product to please make note of that on the container you bring to the church.

Angi will put an ad in the Holiday Bazzar insert in the Elkhart Truth. Scott will look into placing an ad in the Goshen News and Lodema will call WFRN. Angi will also create a flyer for distribution to our church family as well as E-mail to local churches in the area.

We will need approximately 30 volunteers for the day of the event. If you are interested please put a note in Doris Walters or Angi Marcin’s mailbox.

The following supplies are needed for the cookie/candy walk and will be purchased closer to the time of the event.

Plastic Gloves
Styrofoam Containers
Stickers – for pricing
Labeling for cookie area

We are asking for donations of plastic grocery bags for this event from the congregation. We will begin taking donations at the end of November.

Disbursement of Funds

On August 11, the church board requested funds from the Followers of Faith. The church board requested these funds in order to cover additional costs in August. We did transfer $1200.00 to the general fund in order to help with the “crunch” in August. Church board did tell us this money would be repayed to the Followers of Faith in the upcoming months.

The Followers of Faith team was created in order to bridge the gap between what the approved budget covered and the items which were taken out of the various teams budgets due to lack of funds. We are winding down our year, and have had no requests for monies from the teams at this time. Angi will be putting an announcement in an upcoming bulletin notifying teams if they need funds for an upcoming event or special purchase outside the budget to fill out the Followers of Faith form and we would be glad to look into it.

We are having a great year!!!! God is wonderful!!! Isn’t it amazing what we can accomplish when we work together for the glory of God?
