End of Year Review  

WOW!! What a year! It seems like just yesterday we were all sitting in the worship center debating the budget and using words like faith & foolishness. Look how far we have come! With God’s guidance and help we have been successful. Praise God for his loving guidance and ever present Spirit leading us through this past year!! Without him this would not have been possible. I love the joke I heard many years ago about the lady who prayed to God that she would win the lottery. She prayed every day for a year and never won. Finally, one night as she was praying the same prayer God spoke to her and said “I can’t help you until you go buy a lottery ticket!” Isn’t that great, God is always listening and wanting to help us, but he wants us to help ourselves as well. So many wonderful things happened over the past year besides the Followers of Faith events. Because of the events we have helped a missionary to Honduras, Goodwill, Camp Mack and Faith Mission, we even had a little fun ourselves in the process. We’ve learned a little more about each other and possibly ourselves.

Followers of Faith has raised approximately $8,300.00 this year and counting. Cookbook sales are still going strong. We have donated money to the Worship and Property Teams as well as lent money to the Church Board when a little extra was needed to cover expenses.

How can we say thank you to all the people who have helped this year? There are so many! Nearly 99% of the congregation participated or donated to an event this year. Many participated in more than one. That is remarkable and says a lot about our church family. Thank you so much for all your support!! The members of the Followers of Faith team changed as the events changed, but I would like to especially thank a few individuals who worked on every event and worked non-stop through out the whole year. Sharon Houser, Thank you for all your kitchen and food support. You have been a joy to work with and we won’t forget the wonderful cole slaw. On a personal note, God sent you as my angel this year. When the amount of work, and stress started to get me down you were always there with an encouraging word or friendly hug. Thanks! Lodema and David Hoke, I don’t think you ever missed a meeting and were always willing to step up when needed. I’m sure you both know Sam’s Club a little better than when we started and we’ve all learned to make sure the cooler from McDonalds doesn’t leak before you put juice in it. J Thanks! Lois Losee, You have been a remarkable addition to our team. Your ideas have been inspiring and you were always keeping us on our toes. Thank your daughters for always being available to help. Thanks! Maryann Zerbe (Mom), The keeper of our money and organizational guru. You’ve taken the tough tasks and ran with them. Thanks for everything!

Now, you can all take a breather for about 3 weeks. The new year is here and we’re ready to start all over again!!! There will hopefully be more events and even more fun this year with the partial combining of Outreach and Followers of Faith. With the many events that Followers of Faith and Outreach plan every year Jeff Vance and I thought it would be a great idea to partially combine our teams and plan the year together. Our first BRAINSTORMING meeting is set for January 14. Time to be determined.

Anyone interested in being on the Outreach Team, Followers of Faith Team, or if you just have some great ideas to share, please plan on attending the meeting on the 14th. Jeff and I look forward to seeing you there!
