TEAM
SPIRIT…
Team Spirit
has been busy through March and April. We were pleased to be able
to develop resources which will be used to support the Church of
the Brethren Vision Statement when it is presented at Annual Conference
in St. Louis this July. Our thanks to Ron Nicodemus for the idea
for a worship series and for leading the inter-generational Bible
study, to Sue Noffsinger for her drama, Jean Mann Graber for piecing
many of the quilt banners, and to all of you who participated as
worship leaders of children’s story tellers.
We felt like
it was a worshipful and joyful Holy Week at Creekside: from a solemn
readers’ theatre to a sunny Easter Egg Hunt, there was something
for our community of faith and for the neighbors in our community.
Easter worship is always a highlight of the church year.
We rejoice in
Pastor Betty’s ordination, and in her continuing recovery
following surgery at the end of March. We have missed having her
visit shut-ins; Pastor Janet and Pastor Rosanna each took communion
to members of the congregation on Good Friday. It has been a busy
time for pastoral needs in the congregation. We pray for the spoken
and unspoken needs of those in the Creekside family.
We continue
to attend team meetings and are energized by the ways that you see
Jesus on the loose—Christian Education, Outreach, Worship,
and the ways that our ministries our supported by Fellowship, Deacons,
Followers of Faith, Property, and the Church Board. Thank you for
making this a joyous Easter season for your pastoral staff! -Pastor
Rosanna, for Team Spirit

OUTREACH
TEAM…
As you all know
the budget process worked a little different this year and Outreach
is not sending regular monetary donations to any organizations.
However, at every quarter we are reviewing our funds and making
donations accordingly. As we make these donations, we will be keeping
the congregation informed through the Connection Newsletter. In
March we sent the following organizations donations:
COB General
Board - $300.00
COB Northern Indiana District - $300.00
Camp Mack - $200.00
We’ve
had quite a few events during the first quarter and would like to
thank you for all your support!! -Angi Harney and Sharon Houser,
Co-Team Leaders
CREEKSIDE
KIDS TIME…
The children
will depart from the sanctuary during the passing of the peace.
Kids from 5th grade to kindergarten age are invited to a worship
designed for kids and directed by Karen Eis.
-
This will happen on the 2nd and 4th Sundays in April.
- It
is planned to be a fun learning time.
- Older
kids will help younger ones.
- You
will sing "kid songs", and learn some of the songs we
sing in church.
- The
lesson will be based on the Parables of Jesus (Camp Mack's theme
this year).
- You
will learn the story from the Bible and then "make it real"
for your life today.
- There
will be time to share your own joys and concerns,
- Then
time for a craft.
This is sponsored
by the Christian Ed Team.
HOOSIER
NEIGHBOR…

Stephen De Pue |
The Hoosier
Neighbor column is a small part of Creekside’s hospitality.
Our hospitality extends not only to our Neighbors outside of the
church but to our Neighbors sitting right in front of us in worship.
Hospitality is a genuine desire to know our brother and sister in
Christ in a deeper way. Who are our neighbors and what do they desire
for our church? We hope you enjoy the column and take the opportunity
to find out more about our monthly featured Neighbor. God bless!
How
long have you been attending Creekside?
Every person is not simple or just as they appear. We are a product
of our environment, parents, friends and experiences. Our belief in
God is also a result of these impacts on our lives as well as study
and exchanging beliefs with others.
My beliefs are
grounded in my up bringing on a 200 acre farm in rural LaGrange
County. Long days, alone, in the field, not only tilling, harvesting
and working with the various farm animals, but experiencing the
daily wonder of God’s creation has been the backbone of my
developing faith.
What is your
favorite scripture or hymn?
There are several songs that tug deeply at my heart and express
my feelings about my God. The one that I most often think about
is “As the Deer Pants for the Water:” The Octet I was
in at Elkhart City, sang this at Hal Heeter’s funeral as well
as prior to that time.
The other song
just as significant is “Praise, I Will Praise You Lord”.
Soon after we were attending Elkhart City, I was singing this song
in the sanctuary and I said to my self that “ I had come home”.
In addition, this song also has helped me to have faith in pursuing
my water company and looking to serve the “greater”
community. Serving God is mostly what I have always been about and
why I chose my profession as a certified public accountant. There
are other songs, but these two come to mind the most often.
What does
hospitality mean to you?
From my simple background I grew up trusting in others and being
accountable for my actions. I believed in the best from people in
general. Hospitality is opening one’s self up to meeting new
and different people and also caring for those you meet and get
to know. If trust and caring is not there, then hospitality is not
real and strangers and even friends can soon determine if the hospitality
is real.
What do you
like about Creekside church?
The opportunity to work in many areas of responsibility at Creekside
and help with visioning, implementation, and direction. It has not
always been easy, but the best interests of Creekside and not my
own, have been at the forefront of any activity I have pursued.
What is your
vision for Creekside church?
As time goes on, my vision for Creekside has become clouded. I think
there are too many that do not always share a common goal. Once
everyone at Creekside can focus on a few common goals, then the
potential for growth both individually and collectively, will be
much greater.
