H. Gordon
January 13, 1929 - November 14, 2007
Donald H. Gordon,
78, of Elkhart, died at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday (November 14, 2007)
in Elkhart General Hospital. He was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Elkhart,
to Victor and Selena (Truex) Gordon. He married Bonnie Stouder on
April 14, 1950, in Elkhart. She died August 17, 1993. He married
Sandra Peffly on June 17, 2000, in Elkhart. She survives along with
two sons, Robert D. (Kathy) Gordon of Naples, Fla., and Ronald K.
(Nancy) Gordon of Elkhart; two stepdaughters, Sabrina (Ronald) Fritz
and Cheri (Lorence) Howe Jr., both of Elkhart; seven grandchildren;
five stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren;
and one brother, Richard (Eileen) Rohrer of Elkhart. He was preceded
in death by a daughter, Karen J. Ferro; one son, Kevin D. Gordon;
and two brothers, Paul and Ralph Gordon.
Funeral services
were held Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Creekside Church
of the Brethren. Pastor David Bibbee officiated. Burial was in Prairie
Street Cemetery.
Mr. Gordon was
a graduate of Jimtown High School and a member of Creekside Church
of the Brethren, Bristol American Legion, Elkhart Bowling Association,
Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary, Brethren Disaster Response Team,
Elkhart Horseshoe League and Senior Golf League at Raber Golf Course.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a barber in the Elkhart area
for 60 years. He
was employed for 30 years at the U.S. Post Office, retiring in 1990.
After his retirement, he was employed at Hoffman Tool Sharpening
in Elkhart.
Memorials may
be given to Creekside Church of the Brethren.
