Dick Rohrer
January 25, 1916 - December 24, 2008
ELKHART --
Richard E. "Dick" Rohrer,
92, died at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2008, in Woodland
Manor in Elkhart.
He was born January 25, 1916, in Elkhart, to Otto and Sylvia (Truex)
Rohrer. Dick was adopted and raised by Selina Truex Gordon-Fessenden
and Victor Gordon. He married Eileen Love Ryan in Howe, Indiana,
on March 8, 1941. She survives in Elkhart, along with one son,
Daniel (Diana) Rohrer of Elkhart; one daughter, Diana (Richard)
Kuhn of Bremen; five grandchildren, Danielle Rohrer-Garcia and
Darren Rohrer, both of Elkhart, Dawn (Chris) Cubbernuss of Cassopolis,
Michigan, Timothy R. (Amy) Kuhn of Leesburg and Adam J. Kuhn of
Chicago; five great-grandchildren, Aurelio Guzman, Isabela Rohrer,
Brandon
Rohrer, Rylan Kuhn and Aubrey Kuhn; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce
Gordon, Sandra Gordon and Theresa Gordon. He was preceded in death
by his parents; four brothers, Everitt Rohrer, Ralph Gordon, Don
Gordon, and Paul Gordon; and one sister, Mary Alice Hayes.
A memorial
service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2009, at Creekside
Church of the Brethren, 60455 C.R. 113, Elkhart.
Pastor David Bibbee officiated. Visitation was held
prior to the service.
Dick retired
from Teledyne Metal forming in Elkhart. He also owned several
rental properties in Elkhart and Centreville, Michigan. He
served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a supply corporal
and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp for three
years at Pokagon State Park.
Dick was a member of the Creekside Church of the Brethren.
Memorial contributions
