Evangeline Stouder, 96, of Elkhart, died Saturday, October 13, 2012.

She was born to her parents, Joel and Emma Weaver, on April 29, 1916, at the family home in Foraker, Indiana.

Evangeline was the wife of Charles F. Stouder. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Also preceding her in death were a son, Durwood; a brother, Joel Weaver Jr.; a sister, Verna Hartman; a granddaughter, Taryn Nicodemus; and a grandson-in-law, Ken Henderson. She is survived by her daughter, Janalyce Nicodemus (Ronald) of Osceola; her granddaughters, Taryll Henderson of Mishawaka, and Trysha Miller (Robert) of Indianapolis; her great-grandsons, Joshua and Micha Miller; and her great-stepgrandsons, Timothy Keyser and Ronald Henderson.

Evangeline was her husband’s No. 1 supporter in his call to Christian ministry and dedicated her life in service to Jesus Christ.

Evangeline’s family brought her the greatest joy of her life.

She graduated from Wakarusa High School in 1934 and received a two-year teaching degree from Goshen College in 1936.

She taught at Strycker School and Cleveland School in Elkhart County, Swoveland, East Side Concord and J. Elmer Peak in St. Joseph County.

Visitation was Monday, October 15, 2012, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa.
