Philippians 2:5-11 (NRSV)
5 Let the same
mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,
6 who, though
he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something
to be exploited,
7 but emptied
himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness.
And being found in human form,
8 he humbled
himself and became obedient to the point of death -- even death
on a cross.
9 Therefore God
also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every
10 so that at
the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth
and under the earth,
11 and every
tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of
God the Father.
Jude 1:21-25 (NRSV)
21 keep yourselves
in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus
Christ that leads to eternal life.
22 And have mercy
on some who are wavering;
23 save others
by snatching them out of the fire; and have mercy on still others
with fear, hating even the tunic defiled by their bodies.
24 Now to him
who is able to keep you from falling, and to make you stand without
blemish in the presence of his glory with rejoicing,
25 to the only
God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty,
power, and authority, before all time and now and for ever. Amen.
2 And I saw what
appeared to be a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had
conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name standing
beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.
3 And they sing
the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:
‘Great and amazing are your deeds, Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways, King of the nations!
4 Lord, who will
not fear and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations
will come and worship before you, for your judgements have been
4 But God, who
is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us
5 even when we
were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by
grace you have been saved --
6 and raised us
up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ
7 so that in the
ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace
in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace
you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing;
it is the gift of God --
9 not the result
of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are
what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which
God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
4 John to the
seven churches that are in Asia: Grace
to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come,
and from the seven spirits who are before his throne,
5 and from Jesus
Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the
ruler of the kings of the earth. To
him who loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood,
6 and made us
to be a kingdom, priests serving his God and Father, to him be glory
and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
7 Look! He is
coming with the clouds; every eye will see him, even those who pierced
him; and on his account all the tribes of the earth will wail. So
it is to be. Amen.
8 ‘I am
the Alpha and the Omega’, says the Lord God, who is and who
was and who is to come, the Almighty.
