In the last few years, God has gently guided me, step by hesitant step, to be able to say “yes” to pastoral ministry. Although our pastoral team shares leadership duties, my primary focus is visitation, helping members feel a part of and contribute to the strength of the congregation. Spiritual preparation is essential for all of us, and the church needs a setting for group or individual spiritual companioning to help us grow mature in faith. I am committed to creating such a setting.
I have been part of the Church of the Brethren for the last 30 years, although I grew up in Lancaster County, PA, as a Mennonite bishop’s daughter. Living with a Dutch family in the Netherlands from 1966-67 in my 20s significantly influenced my worldview, and I hold a strong belief that “God loves the whole world -- no exceptions.” My husband, Cary, and I have one son, Christopher, who lives in Indianapolis with his wife and two children. Cary and I enjoy traveling to warm places, finding quiet spots to read on vacation, and spending as much time as possible with our grandkids, James and Emily. When I have to wait at doctor’s offices or auto service, you’ll find me doing Sudoku.
